Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Just before sunrise our first morning.

There were whales spouting just to the left of the sunlight in the water.

The view from our balcony.

A morning walk on the beach--the sand was unexpectedly coarse.

Just a little bit pregnant!

One of the many boats in the water near our hotel.

The numerous pelicans and seagulls were unafraid of people, and watched unnervingly like buzzards for any move to abandon one's food.

Some of the more interesting flora we found--this was a leafy tree at the top.

The flowers and all the gardens were lush and beautiful, although obviously carved with much effort out of the desert.

One afternoon, the twice-yearly sea mist rolled in and enveloped everything--we couldn't even see the beach from our balcony!

One of the oldest buildings at the resort, this ornate church was really pretty.

Very Catholic in decoration.

The ceiling had this large medallion in the center, and two smaller ones on either end.

The grillwork doors were really cool.

One of the tucked-away retreats found all over the hotel property; this one had a footrest to push yourself and a bell for butler service.

The sea mist made droplets in several of my pictures--it was NOT on the camera lense!

Nearly everything was decorated, either with intricate painting, metal grillwork or mosaic tiles.

Just before dinner off-property, in the central courtyard.

After our beach day in Cabo, we went to the marina to book deep sea fishing for the guys.

The mariachis were pretty good, although a little loud this close!

Our last evening was a company-sponsored candlelight dinner on the beach.

Jason and me with his reps and their husbands--mostly a pretty fun group!

The open bar didn't do much for me--I stuck with bottled water!

The table settings were beautiful. I tried to bargain for a similar tablecloth, but the lady wouldn't come down enough.

Real, fresh roses surrounded a square pillar candle for an enchanting centerpiece.

In addition to a delicious gourmet 'barbeque', we were entertained by Mexican fire jugglers and dancers.

Jason deservedly won the President's Club award for being the best manager in his division for 2006, and the prize was a 5-day trip to a luxury hotel in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. We debated about whether we could really go, but after Mom and Dad offered to keep Jackson (and Dad didn't need another surgery!), we booked our spot. It was a needed and restful getaway, and Jackson behaved well for my parents. He really hit it off with Cary's roommate, Anna, who spent her spring break with the family. Her name still turns up in his prayers every now and then. We had a great time, but were glad to get back to our little boy. It was my first time to leave him, other than the occasional overnight with my folks, and that was really hard, especially since we were leaving the country! We were so glad it all turned out well.
