The current tenants of the Gingerbread House are much nicer than the witch who wanted to eat Hansel and Gretel. They're downright friendly, in fact! We are a little stir crazy here, as we are quarantined for five days while we finish our antibiotics. Jackson was diagnosed with whooping cough (pertussis), and as a precaution, our whole family, including Patrick, has to take azithromyacin, or a 'Z-pack' of antibiotics. Yes, we got the vaccines, at all the doctor-recommended times, but you can still get pertussis even so, particularly if you have pre-existing respiratory issues, like Jackson. We think we're already into the third (and last) stage, which mostly involves a lot of coughing, but is not contagious. It is a little unclear, since Jackson has had asthma/allergy-related coughing for about six weeks already. My mother-in-law Lorie was so wonderful for bringing over this great gingerbread house kit. She also brought early Christmas presents for the boys: a scrumptiously thick fleece blanket for each! Thanks so much, Lorie!
